A good event needs great people, and a fantastic event needs an exceptional team.
Since our formation in June 2009, these are the committee members who have been involved in putting on Timsbury Fun Day! Some have been involved from the very beginning, and some have been helping for just a few years, but all of them are equally appreciated.
If you fancy getting involved and have ideas to share, you are welcome to join us. We have committee meetings every other month, and more frequently nearer the event. Just get in touch.
Meet the team of organisers below:
As Chair of the Committee, Peter oversees the running of the whole event from start to finish, and ensures that every detail is considered. Peter's role includes taking all bookings for stall holders, aiding technical setup and announcing events.
Geoff is highly organised and keeps records of all our fundraising and outgoings. On the day he supervises setting up and managing the car parking. He has links to Churches Together and has encouraged them to get involved.
Kat is a local event organiser who lends her skills to help find and secure an interesting main attraction each year, as well as encouraging local bands to play at the event. She also manages our social media and web presences.
Jeff is our practical planner and helps to lay out where things will be located on the field both before and on the day. He has links to the Theatre Group, and generally gets everyone involved.
Jan has been helping the committee since the start by collecting money for the main attractions. Since then she has become more involved in pre-planning and helps Sue with raffle ticket sales on the day.
Mike plays a vital role in helping to physically set up the Fun Day each year, including marquees and other equipment. His help with the general running of the event often feeds back ways we can improve each year.
Phillida plays a crucial role as the quiz writer, and table top sales provide us with the extra funding that we can use on attractions.
As a member of the Art Group herself, Sue is the perfect person to help organise them. She's also a dab hand at selling raffle tickets!
Veronica is our link with the Council and before the very first event was extremely helpful in outlining rules and regulations. Always ready with advice and a keen supporter of the Fun Day.
Sadly, Myra passed away in January 2016. We appreciate her continual support, and that of the WI team, overseeing the kitchen from early morning until the very end, preparing tasty treats and teas.
After two years, Gail has moved on from Timsbury and left the committee, but was a crucial part in making the event such a huge success.
With years of experience, and a passion for organising runs, who better to advise us and launch our 2011 event with a fun run for all ages? Chris is also a valuable link with the British Legion.
